Brotato is a top-down arena shooter rogue-lite where you play a potato capable of handling up to six weapons at the same time as you fight off unrelenting waves of aliens. In the game, each weapon has its own unique playstyle and devastating impact.
With a variety of items to unlock, you can customize your arsenal to find the best combination for your personal style of play. However, with so many options at your disposal, it can be difficult to know where to start.
To help you out, we’ve put together a list of the best Brotato builds to get your feet wet and maximize your chances of survival until help arrives.
Generalist
The generalist build is one of the most versatile in the game. From early-game primitive weapons to late-game scaled ghost flint, this build is perfect for players who prefer a mix of melee and ranged damage.
Engineer is the best character for this build, who benefits from a +10 Engineering boost and increased Engineering modifications by 25%. You’ll want to focus on attack speed, reload speed, and HP when playing this build.
Rocket Launcher
If you’re looking to take your firepower to the next level, this is the build for you. With the Rocket Launcher, you’ll be able to destroy multiple enemies at once with high-knockback shots.
To maximize the power of this build, you’ll want to focus on attack speed and ranged damage when selecting your characters.
Stick Build
For a fun and effective alternative to turrets, try the stick build. The sticks in this build have a scaling damage increase for every additional stick that you equip.
This build is a great fit for the Multitasker character, which can stack up to 12 sticks, or the Wildling, which gets a 25% lifesteal buff when using primitive weapons. It’s also a great idea to prioritize the slingshot upgrades, as each one increases the number of hits it can deal.
Engineering Build
With its massive ranged damage and limitless piercing ability, the Engineering build is one of the strongest in the game. This build is easy to play, but requires a lot of skill to master.
We recommend focusing on engineering stats when choosing your characters. You’ll also want to prioritize the Cute Monkey hero, which recovers HP upon collecting items.
While the game’s mechanics come down to an individual player’s preference, these Brotato builds should give you a good starting point as you test out different strategies and try to improve your score.Â
Remember, though, that you’ll need to practice a lot before you reach the top of the leaderboards. Good luck!
Brotato is available on Steam.
